Disclosure

Last updated: October 18, 2026.

This page explains how Call Me Oil is funded, what commercial relationships it has, how its reviews are researched and who writes here. It is meant to give you the context you need to judge our content, and it works together with our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Our approach to disclosure

We believe readers should know about any connection between Call Me Oil and the brands or products it discusses that could affect how much weight they give a recommendation. That includes payments, commissions, free products, sponsorships, advertising, and personal or business relationships. Today, Call Me Oil has none of those commercial connections, and this page says so plainly rather than using vague language. We follow the principles behind the Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on endorsements, which call for clear and conspicuous disclosure of material connections. This page describes our practices honestly, but it is not a claim that the site has been reviewed for compliance with every law or guideline that might apply.

Affiliate relationships

No affiliate relationships are currently configured on Call Me Oil. We are not enrolled in Amazon Associates, any multi-level marketing distributor program, or any other affiliate or referral program. Because we are not an Amazon Associate, we do not earn from qualifying purchases, and no Amazon program statement applies to the site. Links on the site to brands, retailers or research do not earn us a commission, referral fee or other reward when you click them or buy something. We do not use referral codes, distributor IDs or tracking links that credit a sale to us. If we ever join an affiliate program, this page will be updated, and affected links and recommendations will carry a clear disclosure.

Advertising

No advertising network is configured on Call Me Oil, and the site shows no display ads, sponsored listings or paid placements. Because there is no ad network, there are no ad scripts or advertising cookies on the site, as explained in our Privacy Policy. If advertising is ever added, this page and the Privacy Policy will be updated to describe it, and ads will be labeled so they can be told apart from editorial content.

Sponsorships and paid coverage

No brand sponsors Call Me Oil, and no article on the site is sponsored, paid for or commissioned by a brand. We do not accept payment or free products in exchange for coverage, placement, a rating or a favorable conclusion. If sponsored content were ever published, it would be labeled as sponsored at the top of the article, and this page would be updated.

Compensation, free products and material connections

Call Me Oil has not received free products, samples, gifts, discounts or other compensation from any brand it covers. No brand pays the site, and the site has no commercial agreement with any brand it reviews. If a brand sends us information such as GC/MS reports, certificates or sourcing details, we treat it as one source among several, not as payment, and it does not decide our conclusions. If a material connection arises in the future, such as a free product sent for review, we will disclose it on this page and in the affected article.

Editorial independence and conflicts of interest

Decisions about what to cover, which brands to compare and what to conclude are made on editorial grounds, not commercial ones. Reader suggestions shape what we research next, but a suggestion from a brand or its distributors is treated like any other suggestion and does not buy coverage. Because the site currently earns nothing from any brand, no recommendation on the site produces income for us. If a conflict of interest ever arises, such as a commercial relationship with a brand we cover, we will disclose it in the affected content. We would rather tell you that an essential oil is not the right answer for your situation than recommend a product to fill a page.

No guaranteed results or savings

Nothing on Call Me Oil promises that an oil, blend, recipe or brand will produce a particular health, wellness, cleaning, scent or cost result. Essential oils do not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease, and people respond to them differently. Price comparisons and value notes reflect what we found while researching, and they do not guarantee that you will pay a certain price or save money. Statements about evidence describe what published studies or reports suggest. Where evidence is weak, limited to laboratory studies or absent, we try to say so plainly.

How reviews and roundups are researched

Brand reviews, comparisons and roundups on Call Me Oil are research-based. We look at manufacturer information, published GC/MS test reports where brands share them, labels including botanical names and country of origin, sourcing and certification details, and patterns in owner reports. We do not run our own laboratory tests or hands-on product trials, and we do not present research as personal testing. Research-based reviews have real limits, because we rely on what brands publish, a test report may describe a different batch from the one you receive, and owner reports can be unrepresentative. Recipes are written as guidance with estimated drop counts of about 20 drops per milliliter, and they are not lab-tested formulations. We do not present invented customer testimonials as real, and patterns from owner reports are summarized as reports we found, not as our own experience. Anecdotes told in the editorial persona’s voice are part of the fictional backstory described below and are not evidence about any product.

Our editorial persona and images

Articles on Call Me Oil are written under the name Sarah Nakamura, which is an editorial persona. Her backstory, including her years behind an herb shop counter, is fictional, and her portrait is a generated image. Neither the persona nor its backstory is evidence of credentials, employment, shop ownership, professional training or hands-on experience with any product. Images of oils, bottles, blends and projects across the site are illustrative generated photographs, not photographs of products we tested. The About page explains the persona in more detail.

Product details, prices and sellers

Product formulations, prices, sizes, sourcing, labels, certifications, warranties and availability change, often without notice. Information on Call Me Oil reflects what we found when a page was researched or updated, and it may be out of date when you read it. Always check the current label, ingredient list, safety warnings, price and return policy with the seller or manufacturer before buying. The seller or manufacturer, not Call Me Oil, is responsible for the product, its labeling, its warranty and its customer service. Purchases from multi-level marketing companies or their distributors come with their own terms, which may include enrollment, autoship or minimum purchase conditions, so read them carefully.

Health and safety information

Call Me Oil is educational, and its guides are not a substitute for advice from a doctor, pharmacist, other qualified health professional or veterinarian. Essential oils are concentrated and can cause skin irritation, sensitization, burns, phototoxic reactions and poisoning. They can be harmful to children and to pets, especially cats, birds and small animals. Pregnancy, nursing, use with babies or young children, asthma, epilepsy, heart conditions and medications all call for professional advice before using essential oils. Homemade cleaners are not a substitute for registered disinfectants, and natural bug sprays do not replace EPA-registered repellents where ticks or mosquitoes spread disease. In an emergency, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 or 911, or contact your veterinarian if an animal is affected. The Terms of Use describe these limits and your responsibilities in more detail.

Accuracy, updates and corrections

We try to keep every guide accurate and current, and we revise pages when we find errors or when products and evidence change. When we learn of a meaningful error, such as a wrong dilution or a missing safety warning, we aim to correct the page as soon as we reasonably can. If you think we have something wrong, please tell us through the Contact page and include a source if you have one. We cannot guarantee that every page is error-free or reflects the latest version of a product.

Where disclosures will appear

Because there are no affiliate links, ads or sponsored posts on the site today, there are no commercial disclosures to place next to recommendations. If any of those arrangements are added, the disclosure will appear close to the affected recommendation or link, where a reader would see it before acting on it. A general notice on this page or in the site footer alone would not be treated as enough for a recommendation affected by a commercial relationship.

Questions and updates to this disclosure

We will update this page whenever our commercial relationships, funding or research methods change, and the date at the top shows the latest revision. If you have a question about this disclosure, email hello@callmeoil.com or use the contact form on the Contact page. Both routes are set up to reach the site operator through Cloudflare, but end-to-end delivery has not yet been confirmed by a test. We cannot guarantee that every message arrives or receives a reply, and we do not promise a response time.

Call Me Oil

Call Me Oil publishes educational guides about using essential oils at home. Nothing on this site diagnoses, treats, cures or prevents any disease, so ask a doctor or veterinarian about symptoms.
