Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 18, 2026.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Call Me Oil (callmeoil.com) and the service providers that run it handle, why, and what choices you have. The short version is that the site has no analytics, no advertising, no accounts, no newsletter and no comments, and it sets no cookies of its own. The main personal information we receive is what you choose to send through the contact form or by email.
About this policy
This policy applies to the Call Me Oil website at callmeoil.com and to messages sent through its contact form or to hello@callmeoil.com. In this policy, “Call Me Oil,” “we,” “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the site, who is responsible for the site and its contact channels. The operator’s legal name and postal address are not currently published on the site. The site relies on outside providers, mainly Cloudflare, which process some information under their own privacy policies and terms, as described below. This policy does not cover other websites we link to, or how those providers handle information for their own purposes. This policy is effective as of the date shown at the top of this page. Please read it together with our Terms of Use and Disclosure.
Information we handle
Information you provide
You can read the entire site without giving us any personal information. If you use the contact form, it asks for your name, your email address, a subject and your message. The form also includes a hidden field that helps filter out automated spam, which people normally leave empty. If you email hello@callmeoil.com directly, we receive your email address, the name shown in your email, the content of your message, any attachments, and the standard technical headers that come with email. Please do not send sensitive information, such as detailed health records or other people’s information, unless it is truly necessary for your question.
Information processed automatically
Like any website, Call Me Oil is delivered by servers that receive technical information from your browser when you visit. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may process your IP address, the pages and files requested, the date and time, your browser and device type, the referring page and similar request metadata to deliver the site, keep it secure and protect it from abuse. If an error occurs when a contact form message is sent, the site’s Worker error logs may record the reason for the delivery failure, but not the contents of your message. We do not use this information to build profiles of visitors, and we have not installed analytics that would show us who visited.
Information from Cloudflare Turnstile and other sources
On the contact page, Cloudflare Turnstile loads a script from challenges.cloudflare.com to help tell people apart from bots. Turnstile may process browser and device signals and information about your interaction with the challenge. When you submit the form, our server checks the challenge token with Cloudflare, and Cloudflare receives your IP address as part of that check. We use the result of that check to decide whether to accept the submission. We do not buy personal information, and we do not receive information about you from data brokers, advertisers or social networks.
Cookies and local storage
Call Me Oil sets no cookies of its own. The site stores one item in your browser’s local storage, named theme, which remembers whether you chose the light or dark appearance. That item stays on your own device and is not sent to our servers. Cloudflare Turnstile on the contact page may use its own storage or similar technologies to do its job, and that behavior is governed by Cloudflare. Cloudflare may also use technical mechanisms needed to deliver and secure the site under its own policies.
Legal bases for processing
Some privacy laws, such as those in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, require a legal basis for handling personal information. Call Me Oil is written for people in the United States, but where such a law applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in reading and replying to messages you choose to send, improving and correcting our guides, and keeping the site and contact form secure and free of spam. Where you ask us to do something, such as answer a question or delete a message, we handle your information to take the step you requested. We may also handle information where that is needed to comply with a legal obligation. We do not rely on consent for analytics or advertising, because the site has neither.
How we use information
We use the information you send us to read and reply to your message, to research the questions, suggestions and error reports you raise, to correct or improve our guides, and to keep a record of our correspondence. Technical information processed by Cloudflare is used to deliver the site, verify contact form submissions, prevent spam and abuse, and keep the site and its infrastructure secure. We may also use information where reasonably necessary to comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, safety and property of readers, the site and others. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, marketing emails, or automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. We do not add you to any mailing list when you contact us.
Advertising, analytics and tracking
Call Me Oil has no advertising network, no display ads, no analytics service, no tracking pixels and no affiliate tracking links. That means no ad, analytics or affiliate cookies are set through the site, and we do not track you across other websites. Because the site does not sell personal information or track visitors for advertising, there is no such activity for a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal to switch off. If we ever add analytics, advertising or affiliate links, we will update this policy to describe them and revise the date at the top.
How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Those activities are neither intended nor configured on the site. Information is disclosed only in the following ways.
- Service providers handle information on our behalf to run the site, check contact form submissions and deliver email, as described in the next section.
- The email provider that hosts the operator’s private inbox stores messages that reach that inbox.
- We may disclose information if we reasonably believe it is required by law, subpoena, court order or other legal process.
- We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to protect the safety, rights or property of readers, the operator or others, or to investigate fraud, abuse or security problems.
- If Call Me Oil is transferred to a new owner or operator, information we hold, such as past correspondence, may be transferred as part of that transfer, subject to this policy and applicable law.
- We may share information with your permission or at your direction.
We do not give contact form messages or email addresses to brands, advertisers, data brokers or other marketers.
Service providers we use
The site relies on the following providers.
- Cloudflare provides hosting for callmeoil.com, through a Cloudflare Worker with static assets, and DNS, and it processes request data to deliver and protect the site.
- Cloudflare Turnstile runs on the contact page to distinguish people from bots, and Cloudflare receives challenge data and your IP address when the token is verified.
- Cloudflare email services send contact form messages, containing your name, email address, subject and message, to the operator’s private inbox, with your email address set as the reply-to address.
- Cloudflare Email Routing forwards mail sent to hello@callmeoil.com to the same private inbox.
- An email provider, which this policy does not name, hosts the operator’s private inbox, where forwarded email and contact form messages are stored.
- GitHub hosts the site’s source code, which is not visitor-facing, and it does not receive information about people who visit callmeoil.com.
The site’s Worker does not store contact form submissions; it passes them along by email. Each provider processes information under its own terms and privacy policy, including Cloudflare’s privacy policy. This policy does not claim any contractual safeguards beyond the providers’ own standard terms.
Your choices and rights
You can browse the whole site without giving us any personal information, and you decide what to include in any message. You can ask what messages we hold from you, ask us to correct them, or ask us to delete them by emailing hello@callmeoil.com. We will handle such requests as far as we reasonably can and as applicable law requires. Some copies may remain for a time in systems controlled by hosting or email providers, on schedules we do not control. No formal identity-verification process has been set up, so we may ask for information reasonably needed to confirm that a request comes from the person who sent the messages, such as a reply from the same email address. We will not ask for more information than is reasonably needed for that purpose. Making a privacy request does not affect your ability to read the site, which is free and open to everyone. Your browser also gives you useful controls.
- You can remove the theme item at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for callmeoil.com, which simply resets the light or dark choice.
- You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings, although blocking Cloudflare Turnstile may stop the contact form from working, in which case you can email hello@callmeoil.com instead.
- You can use private browsing, script blockers or other privacy tools while reading the site.
Security
Call Me Oil is a static site served over HTTPS, so pages and form submissions are encrypted in transit between your browser and Cloudflare. The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile and server-side validation to reduce spam and abuse, and the site’s Worker does not store form submissions. The site has no visitor accounts and keeps no database of visitors. Email is stored by email providers once it is delivered, and email is not a fully secure way to send sensitive information. We have not commissioned security audits or obtained security certifications. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a security incident affecting personal information, we will respond as applicable law requires.
How long information is kept
No fixed retention period has been set for messages. Contact form messages and emails remain in the operator’s private inbox until they are deleted. Factors that may be considered when deciding whether to keep or delete a message include whether the conversation is finished, whether it relates to a correction or safety concern still being worked on, whether you asked for deletion, and whether the law requires keeping it. Retention of hosting logs, Worker error logs and Turnstile data is governed by Cloudflare, and retention of stored email is governed by the inbox provider. Those providers’ retention periods have not been confirmed for this policy. You can ask us to delete your messages at any time, as described in the Your choices and rights section above.
Children
Call Me Oil is written for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information through the contact form or by email, please email hello@callmeoil.com, and we will take reasonable steps to delete it from the inbox once we identify it. Decisions about using essential oils around children should be made with a qualified health professional, as explained in our Terms of Use.
Where information is processed
Cloudflare operates a global network, so requests to the site, Turnstile checks and email routing may be processed in data centers in the United States and other countries. The location of the operator and of the private inbox’s email provider has not been published. If you contact us from outside the United States, your information may be processed in countries whose data protection laws differ from those where you live. We do not claim any specific transfer mechanism or additional safeguard beyond what providers offer under their own terms.
Links to other websites
Guides link to research papers, government and poison control resources, manufacturers, retailers and other outside sites. When you follow a link, the other site may collect information about you under its own privacy policy, and this policy does not apply there. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites, and we encourage you to read their policies.
California privacy information
California residents may have rights under California law, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, depending on whether that law applies to a particular business. We do not claim that the California Consumer Privacy Act applies to Call Me Oil, but we describe our practices here so California readers have clear information. The categories of personal information handled in connection with the site are identifiers such as names, email addresses and IP addresses, the contents of messages you send, and internet or network activity information such as request metadata processed by Cloudflare. This information comes from you directly and from your browser or device, and it is used for the purposes described in the How we use information section above. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and the site is not configured to do so, so there is no sale or sharing to opt out of. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. California residents can ask to know, correct or delete personal information we hold by emailing hello@callmeoil.com, and we will respond as applicable law requires. California’s Shine the Light law concerns disclosures of personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing, and we do not make such disclosures. Where the law permits, you may use an authorized agent, and we may ask for proof of the agent’s authority.
Other state and international privacy rights
Several other United States states have consumer privacy laws that, when they apply to a business, give residents rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of personal information and to opt out of sale, targeted advertising or certain profiling. Many of those laws apply only to businesses above certain size or data-volume thresholds, and we do not claim that any particular state law applies to Call Me Oil. You can still send any of these requests to hello@callmeoil.com, and we will consider and respond to them in good faith and as applicable law requires. Because we do not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising or profile visitors, there is nothing to opt out of in those categories. Nevada residents may ask operators not to sell certain covered information, and although we do not sell covered information as Nevada law defines it, you can send such a request to hello@callmeoil.com. If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another place with similar laws, and those laws apply, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing and to data portability. In those places, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If a law gives you a right to appeal our decision about your request, you can appeal by emailing hello@callmeoil.com with “Privacy appeal” in the subject line.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the site’s practices change, for example if analytics, advertising, affiliate links, a newsletter or a new provider are added, or if the contact setup changes. When we update it, we will post the new version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date at the top. The site has no accounts or mailing list, so we cannot send individual notices, and we encourage you to check this page from time to time. If a change would materially affect how we use information you already sent us, we will handle that information as applicable law requires.
Contact us
You can send privacy questions, requests and complaints to hello@callmeoil.com or through the contact form on the Contact page. Email sent to hello@callmeoil.com is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to the operator’s private inbox, and contact form messages are sent there by Cloudflare email services. Cloudflare reports that the inbox is verified and routing is enabled, but no end-to-end delivery test has been completed yet. For that reason, we cannot guarantee that every message arrives or receives a reply, and we do not promise a response time. If you do not hear back, you can try the other route, using the form if you emailed or emailing if you used the form. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to contact your state attorney general, the Federal Trade Commission or, where applicable, your local data protection authority.
